The World Needs A Hero (And Anna Hazare Is Not One)

The world needs a hero, and he who claims to fight for what seems right or seems ready to martyr himself for what is taken as a moral cause is exalted and seated on the throne of heroism. In a country where people have done nothing to improve their quality of life, a nation built on greed and corruption, a land whose people think patriotism is standing up for the national anthem before movies are screened, an old, bald prick who claims he wants to end corruption and free India all over again is being hailed as some kind of a messiah.

You fucking poseurs, you don’t even know what all the fucking commotion is about, but you’re up in arms because you heard the word ‘corruption’.

It’s not the government officials who are corrupt – they can accept a bribe only when we offer it to them. And if they ask us for it, we can exercise the option of showing them a middle finger and walking away.

Now, me – I’ve been caught by cops at a nakabandi for riding a motorcycle after having two drinks. I spent a fair amount of time trying to bribe my way out of it, and then I spent the time on the way to the police station wondering why I, of all the people, had to be stopped by an honest police officer.

Your Anna Hazare is a toothless cocksucker. Anyone who fasts as a form of protest (even children don’t do that nowadays) and sulks and refuses to come out of jail (stop laughing, that’s what he’s doing) is setting a terrible example. Fasting and sulking are not the ways to get the government to bow to your demands, no matter how noble the cause you’re fighting for is.

Neither can you achieve anything by turning all the lights in your house off. Fuck, that’s called preserving electricity and saving money. Fuck, I can’t believe how dumb you people are.

Corruption may be is a terrible thing and we all know that, but the next time I’m caught on the wrong foot by cops; it could be for anything – rolling a joint for my brother, drinking beer on the road or fucking a chick in a movie hall – I will try to bribe my way out of it.

You bastards who have a problem with corruption… the next time you’re stopped by a traffic cop for breaking a signal, pay the full fine or part with your fucking license instead of slipping him a 100-buck note. Fucking poseurs.

(dont worry i know u will not even understand what i am trying to tell u). there might be a few bad apples everywhere but what the fuck is anna hazare? First name like a girl, never married cuz he could not afford a family, thrown out of army, then suicidal maniac, gets his hand on great peoples biography when trying to suicide and starts to think himself as one. Interesting post ..

May be you are right about that fact that we Indians have done every little bit in our capacity to support corruption all along the way, but the real issue is much bigger. Refusing bribes to cops for flouting traffic rules is not putting an end to corruption as such on a large scale. I do get your point that you first do your bit and willingly abide by the law by either accepting a jail sentence or paying a hefty fine as opposed to getting away with bribery if proven guilty in daily matters. But there is a mammoth issue of corruption to be tackled where people like you and me do not have any control on wtsoever.

These are issues the ones which are sucking the country dry. These are issues because of which we have fucked up roads, bad construction and infrastructure, forgery and cheating, corrupt builder lobby, telecom scams, defense scams which involve kickbacks, exploitation of power by ministers, duty and tax evasion by the rich and influential, murder of RTI activists, even terrorism … and the list can just go on and on.

For the first time you see a monumental voluntary response by the people in support of a cause which tomorrow could be implemented as law, giving people some real rights towards ensuring a transparent and fair govt. This bill is an attempt to serve justice to grievances of a failed nation and a failed democracy whose politicians have now and again cheated its own people. The more dumb and ill-informed your people are, the easier it is to run the country. I am not sure how many protesters actually know that reason for this protest is the governments successful acceptance of the Jan Lokpal bill and dismissal of the Govt’s version of the Lokpal bill. But the people realize that they have been truly fucked, cheated and lied to.. even the phrase ‘enough is enough’ is an understatement and has been used for far too long.

The people of a country deserve the government they have. And we deserve such corrupt governance because of our own corrupt nature, stupidity, ignorance and lack of awareness. People should realize that its majorly their mistake for not seeing through the lies of all bastards who they themselves have elected. Now after so many years when they have finally come to realize the extent of damage that has been caused all this while, they are utterly helpless and want to desperately cling on to some hope that could help resurrect their already troubled lives. That is why the people have stood up in support of the Lokpal bill.

Why do you think none of the political parties are willing to support the Jan lokpal bill entirely, but infact oppose it strongly ? If this bill meant nothing, the Govt could have easily approved it and would have been least bothered about the consequences. But it’s a threat and for the first time it can feel the power quickly slipping away from their hands into the hands of people in the longer run, if this bill is implemented. This applies to any party which would eventually come into power tomorrow with the ulterior motive of milking the cash cow (India with its enormous tax paying population) and wash their hands off criminal scams and affairs which are pushing the country to a near civil war kind of situation. Today there is unbelievable disparity between worth of individuals which is rising at an alarming rate. The corrupt politicos, bureaucrats and businessmen have been constantly using the tax payers money like their personal piggy bank and justice has still not been served successfully. They have sold us out !!

This bill may or may not change things for this country, but if implemented as law and successfully overseen by honest members, it could be at least be a great start towards curbing the cancer of corruption to which the country has succumbed to since decades.

So my view being that since its not another rant of some political party opposing a govt in power, lets try and extend as much support to some independent citizens who have summarized the views of the troubled indian and put them in form of a bill which could kickstart some clean up process.

And if Jan Lokpal Bill proves another futile attempt to stop the corruption, then gear up for civil war. I would personally want to see India burn in people’s rage.

Hope is all that we have left with us.

    Peace !!

    Amit

@ amit – you are very eloquent but you need to read the Jan Lokpal Bill. the way to fight corruption would be to streamline service delivery as corruption is usually at the point of interaction eg. when you are applying for a passport and the like.
what we need is a process transformation, not another babu/cop raj. liberalisation and economic reforms are not creating corruption as prashant bhushan, one of the drafters of the bill says. what we need is more jobs, better service delivery and leaner regulators; not going back to farming and then rushing to the Lok pal every time we are denied a service.
firstly, do we need another massive leviathan of an agency armed with executive & judicial powers full of another set of corrupt bureaucrats & cops? and do you seriously believe that every decision of Lok pal won’t be challenged in a higher court ?! System in a system in a system! what we need is fraud analytics and not some 19th century army of inspectors headed by Mr.Hazare (and why he is in-charge, I simply fail to understand)

do read the bill carefully and re-think. happy reading.

@ Don’t Follow Blindly .. I understand your point that implementing Lokpal appears another way of running some kind of parallel government with executive and judicial powers, but if you read my post carefully, the Jan Lokpal bill aims at corruption on a much higher level. ‘something which you and me do not have control on’. You cannot even think of fighting that level of corruption without these powers to say the least. There is no other way to make your voice heard in a country like India than to do a hunger strike. Call it nautanki or wtever, but it works in india where all fair methods of protests fail miserably. Its commendable to see that there has been no destruction of public property or public endangerment in these protests.

This bill aims at creating an effective ombudsman institution who would carefully oversee and try to ensure a fair and honest spending of tax payers money for the country’s development, implement new systems in place which would regulate the interaction point like you mention. If you would consider running to the Lokpal every time you are in small situation involving a bribe then you need to really understand the intention of Lokpal bill. Its not for you and me on an individual level, its for the country and all of ‘us’ and to protect ‘our’ money from being squandered off by the corrupt in power or cause huge losses to the state or the country like in the telecom scam. B.t.w for state matters there is the Lokayukta which successfully convicted Yeddyurappa in the mining scam so you could imagine wt power Lokpal could have when implemented as law in the country.

For someone from a city, our idea of corruption is when we are denied a service or shamelessly asked for a bribe by a government official in a bmc office or by a cop to be let off for jumping a red signal or even denied an F.I.R at a cop station unless you slipped some cash under the table. But let me tell you that although these are important issues affecting people on a daily basis they still form only 20 to 30% for the larger problem. I, frm personal experience, can tell you that these issues have been resolved to a large extent. I just got my passport renewed and home-delivered within 15 days flat without no issues whatsoever. But that’s just one of the many issues that may have been streamlined. I do agree with you that putting an even stronger process in place will definitely reduce and eventually put an end to corruption for daily activities and help an average citizen to move on but the larger picture is much worse. Everyone now knows the level of scams but not all accused have been successfully convicted.

I also would say that a bigger part of the corruption problem in our daily lives is us who cannot stop ourselves from slipping out some bribe money every time we do something wrong just to escape the law. Changing ourselves would take care of a smaller part of our daily problems. But there are still terrible roads, terrible infrastructure, illegal land grabbing, defense scams, duty and tax evasions, black money in foreign banks and many more that need serious attention.

So its not just the Lokpal bill or any other bill which would solve the problem alone. It requires us to change as well. It is an extremely difficult task to bring about the change but its worth a try.

And as far as the question of Anna hazare being the one ‘in-charge’ .. he has been voluntarily doing this for far too long without any political intervention and has gained success in such crusades in the past. That’s what has earned him people’s trust and support .. that’s it !!

Are people just willingly blind to the massive abuse of power and trust that this this can lead to? Has anyone really spent the time investigating the people pumping money into the IAC? If anybody’s aware of the Tea Party movement in the States, a purportedly grassroots movement made up of mostly assbackward rednecks..it is being financially steamrolled by corporations with GOP leanings.

Besides, in our religion…. ermm, I mean movement, Hazare Anna G. is a term that CAN’T be broken. Hence, one can’t say I support “him”, and one can neither just say Hazare Anna…. how disrespectful! One simply MUST use the whole, unbreakable term “SHAG”.
        And we’re more than a group…. we’re a cult,.. I mean, we’re a cunt… I mean, we’re a movement! yeah, that’s the right word.

Anna who is fighting against corruption in public eyes is an inventor of a big political game through which he had kept unjustified demands which went unquestioned by public.

He demanded in the Lokpal bill that the officials who will be responsible for handing corruption cases should be given police rights so that they can arrest any one and at any time.

Only if one can imagine what it could lead to, if Government agreed to this, people sitting peacefully at home, with no dirt on their hands, can suddenly be caught for no reason and will be put in jail by Anna (in case he doesn’t like You ). The period given for the verdict resolution is only 2 years which is definitely not enough for an innocent to free himself of guilty before court in India.

So if one has given even a 100 rupee note in bribe by mistake, get ready for an imprisonment of 10 years. Yes, the minimum is 10 years. Your whole life will turn into a black hole.

I am not saying this will happen but by agreeing to his demands, Government will pass him enough rights to so this to any one in the country. So what you need to do if this happens? Well, speak out………”HAIL ANNA!”

    …And sleep peacefully

Right to speech, yes it is a part of our constitution but when Arundati Roy spoke against Anna, public responded with something unexpected “She is a bitch, she should be raped!”

What a response! Of course they also have the right to speak but are they not aware that under our constitution, we are not allowed to insult anyone in public? We are not supposed to use abusive language?

Some of you reading this may be thinking that I am against Anna, may be I am favouring some political party but I have already made it clear that I was apolitical but as a human I have views, I support right and hate wrong doings.

Now looking at the Government, never ending of corruption, more than 30% of them above 70 years of age, can we expect any change?

Once there used to be king rule where one family ruled over the entire regime and the crown was passed on to their successors. Now we say that we have a democratic government chosen by people but is it really that way?

    Look at our political structure:

Congress…began with Nehru Gandhi…followed by Indira then Rajeev than Sonia than Rahul………and it will go on forever , and we all know this is not the only family.

The same genes, the same values are carried by their children and their children taken from their corrupt ancestors, how can we expect any change in Indian regulation?

The only solution is to break this trend, to not have the same family keep ruling. Any politician who have been a minister or MLA should not be followed by his or her children, only new people with different belief system, different background should follow the regime. This is the only way out.

True Story. Idk why people are going gaga over hazare..seriouly the old fart doesnt have a better job to do. I appreciate what he’s doing but at the same time his methods are lamer than a LKG kids…And i did laugh at the “Sulking in jail” part xD. People should grow a pair of balls and refuse to bribe government douche bags. But now things dont work that way do they? Sad Scenages.
